Cloud application performance management (CAPM)

Source:  IPGGutenbergUKLtd/Thinkstock

Cloud application performance management (CAPM or cloud APM) is the watchdog for organizations with cloud apps. The point of CAPM is to make sure cloud apps and the resources they run on are working properly. This helps keep users happy because issues can be avoided or resolved quickly.

CAPM tools monitor application response times and aggregate the information into a correlation engine and dashboard. IT departments can then deal with any issues. Like man's best friend, CAPM tools do not all perform the exact same tasks. Some tools have the added ability to predict where problems may arise or can automate a solution for an existing problem.
